What is it about people when they walk down the street?

Are they awake? If folks drove like they walk our streets would be full of mangled cars and dead bodies.

There you are walking down the street and people are walking towards you. Do they side step? Nope - they carry on until the last possible moment as if you just weren't there.

Then there are the sideways walkers. You know the ones. Its as if they are drunk because they don't walk in a straight line but diagonally across the pavement forcing you to circumnavigate them cautiously. But I think the very worst are those who simply suddenly stop to peer in a window or answer their cell phone. It seems that they have no idea that someone might be right behind them.

Of course we also get the walkers who are texting as they go. My God - they walk in a dream unaware of anything or anyone around them. A total nuisance.

And what about the trend to be listening to music? Of course, they can't just listen themselves. They have to have the music so loud that the entire street can hear it all the while the entire street is wondering how long the listeners hearing will last.

I'm sorry but I think walking through a city center has become very dangerous. You have to be very careful not to collide with sideways walkers, run up the back of stoppers or smash into texters and listeners.

Like I said. Imagine if we drove the way we walk? Wow!
