How does it work?

Well, you sign up your website, add a small piece of code to your site and then wait for the site to be approved. Once approved, you will start displaying small ads with links. For each page (allocation of points depends on page rank) these small ads are placed, you get points and at any time you can cash in your points for cash via paypal. It is THAT SIMPLE.

If you maintain a blog or website chances are you struggle with two issues - promoting your blog and making a little money from it. I recently discovered a new service that actually helps with both of these issues and have been trying it out over the last two weeks or so - it works!

The idea is that you sell links on your blog or website. You paste a little php code, the service crawls your site and starts placing these short links on your pages - to see them on this blog, go to another page and scroll down to the bottom... you will see them there. Depending on the ranking of your page (google page rank), you get paid a number of points by the service for each link placed and accepted by you. You have full control over these links at the service's website and can delete any you do not want for one reason or another.

The points that you earn can then be reimbursed for cash to a paypal account and you make money. Or, you can use the points that you accumulate to build some campaigns of your own to promote your own site. It's easy to do that and you simply build links to articles and pages that you want to promote and sit back and wait.

Making money from blogging isn't as easy as most folks will tell you. Building a blog is just the start. Then you have to gain traffic and engage in all kinds of marketing campaigns to sustain that traffic. It's very, very, very competitive out there. So, finally there is a blog that tells it like it really is... this guy doesn't pull any punches. He is real about blogging for money.

The site also covers and reviews various ways of making money including blog article writing for cash with various service providers like this review of payperpost and amazon's affliate program. But the best material there is the emphasis on branding and marketing strategy.

It seems like every web site in the universe now has Google ads... you know, those insidious blocks of ads inviting you to all sorts of places on the Internet. No? Look to the right and you'll see mine. Yep - I use them too and why not? If I make a few cents every now and then great.... it's better than begging for money... Oh, though I do that too - see below where I ask you to buy me a beer.

Actually though what I want to go off on is how those damn ads work. They are contextual... i.e. they look at the content on he page and then cleverly feed ads that match the page content. Awesome right? Clever beyond belief?

Well yes and NO. If I write a really good rant about how I hate something so much I want to scream guess what happens? My website is suddenly full of those damned ads promoting the VERY thing I was just ranting about. It's Google's way of getting back at me. I say I hate Mrs. Clinton and never ever want to see her elected to anything and those clever little ads are promoting what? YES - Mrs. Clinton! I rant about fundamental christians and how they are ruining the world as we now it an guess what? Yes... lots of pesky little ads about meeting Jesus.... oh Jesus....

It's a plot I know designed to drive me insane........

The BBC is carrying a story today of a man in the USA who has paid his $20 per year hosting fees for www.pizza.com since 1994 but last week sold the site at auction for a cool $2.6 million USD. Not a bad return...

Guess I am a little late with that announcement but oh well...A while ago, I wrote about a new audio advertising program that was being picked up rapidly by bloggers as a way to make some money from their sites - article here. Well, I'm wondering if anyone has actually heard one of these ads coming from their PC speakers as they browsed a website? I havn't. The program claims that more than 8 million websites have signed up already to deliver these infernal ads to you but that right now, they are still testing and only delivering 100,000 ads per day. Have you been lucky? Did you hear one yet?

It seems that the idea of making money blogging is all the rage these days and several folks on the Internet really promote themselves as successful at making lots and lots of money from their blog sites. I exposed one recently - John Chow and showed you how he really makes his money... None the less, the interest levels are high.

I am responding to that interest by blogging on the topic myself here. Why? Because frankly, I think there are a lot of totally misleading websites out there that are simply designed to make money at YOUR expense. The Internet is the wild west these days of get rich quick money making scams and I aim to root them out and expose them for what they are - scams.

Just when you thought that you had seen everything when it comes to advertising on the Internet audio ads make their appearance. I guess someone will always dream up a new way of targeting you with advertising but now might be a good time to turn off your PC speakers - especially if you like to browse the Internet while at work!

Audio ads are due to launch on February 1st and get this, they have signed up more than 8 million websites to play those ads to you. Furthermore the company behind the idea are sponsoring lots of articles on websites about their service (No - this isn't one of them!) in an effort to sign up more bloggers and websites prior to their launch. They were even mentioned in the Wall Street Journal.

Wouldn't it be nice to actually have a job blogging? Some top bloggers are actually able to do that. The rest of us live in hope that perhaps one day we can give up our day job and blog away knowing that the bills are paid and more.

But there are a few ways to make some money from your blog even if its not listed in Alexas Top 100,000 websites.
