The Pain of Student Loans

Growing up in the UK I was pretty much paid to go to College. The UK Government paid my tuition and provided a grant each year for me to live on. It wasn't much but I managed thanks to some overdraft help from the bank. During my postgraduate period I was able to work as a lecturer too and make more money. But how things have changed!

I now have a son at a private college in the US. It's over $40,000 a year. Despite the fact that the College has awarded him a few grants, it is still an onerous stretch to pay. Each year, I take on new parental student loans and by the time he graduates I will have a second mortgage.

But as US interest rates decline now is a great time to consolidate my student loans - yours too.

A website I found recently is designed to help you do just that. It has a complete student loan directory and lots of great information to help you make decisions and get through the process. The site helps you with online student loan consolidation great advice, information and assistance all in one place. Better yet, their service is free to use.

According to the site, you can actually save up to 60% on those tedious and onerous monthly payments. As stated above, with US interest rates at record lows and more probably yet to come in March - now is the time to lock in a lower interest rate on your payments. Why? Because after the Spring, those rates will start climbing again as the US Federal Reserve responds to inflationary pressures. This is a golden window of opportunity to get lower payments now that might not be there by the summer.

The website makes it easy to consolidate those loans and even takes an electronic signature. So, for a matter of a few minutes work, you too can get those student loans to a more manageable monthly payment - What are you waiting for?
