As an expatriate I see and hear how people in the rest of the world feel about the United States - it's not good folks! As George Bush becomes the most unpopular President ever just translate that same metric into how the rest of the world feels about the United States right now. Now, if you are an isolationist American you probably don't really care what other people think. But you should. The US economy is a disaster and not getting any better. The fall of the US Dollar is a consequence of that economy too.

The US's position in the world depends on other's goodwill and cooperation. It depends on the US Dollar being the currency that...well...it once was. America needs trading partners and it needs overseas markets and it needs allies. The arguments have already begun about pricing commodities in Euros instead of Dollars - that would be a signal of America's waning economic influence in the world. Being hated as a nation might make Americans say who cares but hold on a minute... it's the recipe for disaster.

So why is a choice for Obama simple? It's simple because he represents a new, intellectual and pragmatic potential leader. He is a person who can bring people together - no just in America but he can also bring allies closer to America and even apply the same approach with the overseas image of the United States. Not only that but he is representative of a minority and sends a signal that while racial issues in the US might not be solved they are being addressed - progress is being made. His approach to change - and change is needed - is one that will be embraced by almost everyone in the World. Electing Obama would repair most of the damage Bush has done in his 10-years on the international scene. Of course, Obama would still have deliver substance but you need goodwill to make things work.

On the other hand Clinton is seen increasingly as a divider. She has tirelessly worked to find divisive issues to attack Obama with - race being the worst of them all. She is a part of the current way of doing business in DC and Globally. Making statements about annihilating Iran might work well with Blue collar workers in Pennsylvania but it makes everyone else in the world cringe. She is George Bush or might as well be. She shifts her position to suit the polls and she lies to gain sympathy. Who outside of the US would trust her word or her intentions. She represents the status quo, the old way, the dominant arrogant superpower that, if it can't bully it's way to what it wants, withdraws back into itself.

I know my voice is simply one in millions but listen to it. Obama - not necessarily the man - but what he represents, will deliver to America so much more than a tried old crotchety, do anything to win for me, Clinton.

Mark my words and be warned.
