Women wield extraordinary power when it comes to elections and this is a fact that is well know by candidates. By virtue of being a woman (although see Is Hillary Really Bill in Drag which might cast some doubts on that fact), she ought to have an advantage in capturing the woman's vote in the Presidential race. But as Mrs. Thatcher learned in the UK, being a woman doesn't get you that woman's vote if you act, well, manly...
So, here we have Mrs. Clinton pounding the streets and the electorate with her messages and showing what a strong and steadfast lady she indeed is and then came Iowa. Obama stole the show and before you can say 'whoopsadaisy a la Hugh Grant in Notting Hill, Clinton finds herself suddenly (and rightfully) behind in the polls. Obama you see isn't a bad looking chappie and he is fresh, young and quite attractive. Seems the ladies took a liking to him.
Now what was a woman to do? Show herself to be feminine perhaps?, actually a human and CRY. Well, they called it in the media 'welling up'. How touching. How rehearsed. How so bloody obvious. And the result it appears to me is that Hillary got the woman's vote in New Hampshire and saved her campaign.
You got to hand it to the Clintons. They KNOW how to manipulate the media and the electorate. I mean Bill actually committed perjury in front of the entire nation and got away with it cos he's a nice chappie and women love him too.
Now, before I get a stream of comments saying I am anti-woman or something, let me say that is not the case. Its just that it was soooo obviously a play for the woman's vote that I can't believe you all fell for it.
Women rightly have a big impact on politics but I do hope that women don't end up finding that they helped perpetuate the Bush-Clinton Monarchy by being manipulated by Hillary and camp.
Come on people - this woman is transparent. She is a hack, a wanna be President and furthermore she is the establishment that has RULED the US for more than 20-years already.
It is time to change the status quo in the US. And that's why Obama's message is having impact.
