Wouldn't it be nice to actually have a job blogging? Some top bloggers are actually able to do that. The rest of us live in hope that perhaps one day we can give up our day job and blog away knowing that the bills are paid and more.

But there are a few ways to make some money from your blog even if its not listed in Alexas Top 100,000 websites.

One which I came across recently is Smorty - a service that pays bloggers for writing posts for their advertising clients - blog advertising. Now I hear you say - I don't want to read blog posts that are thinly disguised advertisements and that you have been paid to write... Why the hell not? If the blogger selects only paid assignments that match the content of his/her blog and has a talent for writing, then these paid posts can be as informative and as amusing as the blogger can make them. Meanwhile, the blogger gets a few Dollars to cover his/her costs. To me it makes sense.

Getting getting paid to blog is a good thing in many respects unless the blogger fills his or her website with paid posts in which case they wouldn't keep their readers for very long would they?

The Smorty service is not the only such service of its kind on the Internet available to bloggers but it is a well organized site, easy to navigate and, it has an approval process - apparently, it doesn't accept just any blog.

Blog advertising has been around a while now - most of it in your face sort of stuff with lurid flashing colors or long lists of click through links that often seem to be unrelated to the sites content. This service seems to me to offer something for everyone - the blogger, the advertiser and the reader - if the blogger has the writing skills to pull it off.
