Tennis Star Protests

Martina Navratilova has said in the past that President George W. Bush is a liar but her most recent comments are a real eye opener and worthy of some consideration. In regaining her Czech nationality recently she said "The thing is that we elected Bush. That is worse. Against that, nobody chose a Communist government in Czechoslovakia." and that she had swapped "One system that suppresses free opinion for another—it's depressing."

Now she didn't give up her US citizenship but now has dual nationality. My guess is that giving up US citizenship would be too onerous as the IRS would be very interested all of a sudden in why she would give up US citizenship.

But think about what she is saying. She defected from a communist country - a pretty horrible and brutal regime - to go to the US. Now there she made a hell of a lot of money but in recent years she is saying that the US under Bush is becoming as bad as the regime that she left. Worse, she says Bush was elected. The communists simply took over and eliminated the opposition.

It is a sad reflection on the US that someone would say these things but I have to say that in many respects, I agree. Under Bush, freedoms are being eroded and wars fought and planned without the people's backing or support.

Think about it.
